Suggestions in Installing Paling Fences
How do you install a paling fence? The method can be costly. Nonetheless, it is less difficult provided you define borders well and accurately. Likewise, plan carefully before you start the construction. Make sure to confirm community rules about materials and height.
The boundary can be made using hardwood such as oak or treated lumber. Use preservatives if you would like to use wooden stakes. The fact is, hardwood pillars are not allowed in some localities because of termite and deterioration issues. There are some precautionary measures to consider if you will do the actual fabrication of paling fences. Use safety goggles, dust masks and ear protection devices. These are necessary while you cut or sand wood. Keep all equipment away from kids. Refrain from using treated timber as firewood since these emit toxic vapor.
Tools you will need are hammer; hand and power saw; pencil and square; measuring tape; chisel (20 to 40 millimeters); and, string and chalk lines. For the materials, support posts should be fabricated from resilient hardwood and 100 to 125 x 75 millimeters in dimension. The rails should measure 75 x 38 to 50 millimeters; galvanized nails/bolts for fastening rails to pillars; concrete for pockets of boundary markers; cladding (75 to 100 millimeters) in width and 12 to 19 millimeters in thickness; and, wood preservatives.
The columns must be cut 600 millimeters longer than the altitude of your enclosure if installed in the ground. If not, it should be 300 millimeters longer if drilled into concrete or stone. The posts are made stable with concrete using a four to one combination of sand and cement.
The starting point is to remove the existing containment. As soon as the old posts are brought down, dig the post holes. Make sure that these do not go over 2.7 meters away from each other. The footing should be 450 millimeters deep for every stake. Use your string line to make certain the footings are aligned. Insert the posts and make sure that the height is correct. You may use vinyl or steel covers for the top of your fencing columns.
Rails are mounted on the posts by threading through the holes and screw nails from end to end of the post. If you use steel for upright support, the bracket can be secure to the post so the rail can sit in. The corners must be cut with a 30 degree angle and attached together over the columns.
